My mother recently ran across some old family photos, the kind that make Dianna and me shake our heads. Our sons are (from left above): Chad 31, Mike 26, and Dallas 33), but here's what they looked like as kids:
I shot this of Mike, who's now 6-6 and 200-and-plenty, when he was learning karate.
Dallas, our movie director, still complains that his Halloween costumes were too tame.
Chad, our college baseball coach and father of a son about this age now, had hair to die for. No parent in his right mind would have cut it.
I came home to Chad and Dallas after a trip years ago and shot this picture. I made so much over having missed them that Dallas said, "Two beautiful boys!"

No parent in his right mind would have cut it? Not even after countless, "What's her name?" and "What a pretty girl!" comments?
Three boys and a daddy, what could be cutier?
Fun to look back.
Surprisingly, not many mistook Chad for a girl because he was all boy. And except for the occasional fashion mistake, he was dressed like a boy and had an unusually low voice. I, on the other hand, had long straight blond hair, uncut till I was two, and was constantly mistaken for a Geraldine.
